The periodontium is defined as the specialized tissues (gums and bone) that surround and support the teeth and maintain them in the upper and lower jaws. Since the periodontium provides the support for teeth, periodontal therapy is one of the most important aspects in dentistry.
Our office considers periodontal therapy to start in the office and to continue at home, as well. Our hygienists aim to keep every patient informed on the latest and best methods of home care, and strive to keep every mouth as healthy and clean as possible. Hopefully, routine six month cleanings and exams are all that are needed, but in the event that a patient has a periodontal problem arise, our hygienists are thoroughly trained and well prepared to address the problem.
