Dentures & Partials
Dentures and partials are removable prostheses designed to replace missing teeth. Normally, the word dentures describes a full upper or lower “plate” that replaces all of the teeth on either the upper or lower jaw. A partial, on the other hand, replaces as few as one tooth or as many as all but one tooth. Dentures and partials usually consist of replacement teeth attached to pink, gum-colored plastic which mimic normal teeth.
Today dentures and partials do not have to be like your mother’s and father’s dentures. We have the technology today that allows us to make dentures or partials that “snap” into place via new “precision attachments”. Precision attachments allow the dentist to hide or eliminate those old metal clasps from the partial and make the partial or denture fit in the mouth seamlessly. Though the precision attachments usually add cost to a denture or partial, the benefit of the added function and aesthetics is phenomenal.
